Bookmark the page button

Repeat visits to your website may increase if users add your site to the favourites list in their web browser. Inserting this button onto your Masterpage or individual pages can entice users to do this. For information on how to make this feature available see Miscellaneous.

When editing the settings of a bookmarker: enter the Miscellaneous Manager and select the radio button next to that object's ID number. The bookmarker settings will load in the same window.

No style information is given by default.

The defalt text for the bookmarker is 'Bookmark this Page'.

To change this text, enter a value in the second text box. The value given in the first text box will appear as the link of the user's browser.

Styles may also be given to the link (perhaps to make it appear more like a button).

  • To set the style for your bookmarker, select the 'Edit' button in the Bookmarker Settings box.
  • The page will reload, showing the style creator. Use this in the same manner as when creating a new style in the Style Manager. This style will be specific to the bookmarker link only.

  • When all style settings have been defined click 'Save' in the style creator. The Bookmarker Settings will reload, now showing the style attributes beside the 'Edit' button.
  • Select 'Save' to confirm the changes to your bookmark button.

Spacer

Using a spacer enables you to insert a blank space or gap onto a page or Masterpage between articles, images or other objects. Spacers are essentially the same as an empty article, but allow more control with regard to their size. Height and width of a spacer are measured in pixels. See editing the size of a spacer below.

Spacers can be used multiple times on a page or Masterpage. Multiple spacers may be created to allow for different size height and widths. To keep track of which spacer is which, you may like to rename them using the Metadata in the Miscellaneous Manager.

  • To edit the size of the spacer you will need to enter the Miscellaneous Object Manager.
Editing the Size of a Spacer:

When initially created, a spacer will not contain information regarding its width and height (values will be blank). Therefore if you insert an unedited spacer onto your page or Masterpage, it will only be visible by the grey click to edit button shown above the spacer when you are logged in and in edit mode.

To edit the size of a spacer:

Enter the Miscellaneous Manager and select the radio button next to the spacer you wish to edit. Click 'Edit' in the Manager Options menu.

The page will reload showing the Spacer's current properties. Enter a value for the Width and Height of the spacer and select the 'Save' button.

The Miscellaneous Manager will reload. When viewing this object on a page or Masterpage now, the gap or space should be visible.

Send Link to Friend

When this object is inserted onto your page it will appear as a button.

The image on the right shows how it will appear on a page you are editing. In this example the button has been created using 'Button Text'.

send link button

Any user clicking on this button will be shown a pop up window similar to the image on the right.

Clicking 'Submit' in this window will send an email only if all compulsory fields have been completed by the user.

send link window

The email that is sent to the 'Friend's Email' is compiled, based on the properties set by the administrator user. To view or change these properties:

  • Enter the Miscellaneous Manager and select the radio button next to the desired 'sendlink' object.
  • The send link's current properties will load in the same window.

Number/bracket sets:

Please take note of the list of numbers on the right side of the Send-link's properties window. When an email is compiled for the recipient, these bracket/number sets are replaced with their respective values. For example: where (5) appears in the Message box, in the respective email it would be replaced by the URL of the page containing the sendlink button. To use these values, please ensure they have been copied exactly into the textboxes.

Properties in this object type:
  1. Default Subject: This is the subject as it will appear in the recipient's inbox. This section may include number/bracket sets.
  2. Background Information: The title or instructions that appear at the top of the sendlink popup window when a user clicks on the sendlink button. This section should be kept brief to prevent confusion.
  3. Message: The email will contain the information written in this textbox. To ensure the message acts as a Page Link, you must insert the (5) bracket/number set into this field. The default properties include one example layout, that may be edited, which contains all six number/bracket sets.
  4. Thank you text: Appears to the user who is sending the email link once they have clicked submit in the sendlink popup window.
  5. Button Image or Button Text: Only one of these options should be selected. This determines the look of the link when it appears on your webpage.

Select 'Save' the confirm the changes made in this window.

Scrolling Text

Scrolling Text is similar to an Article Slideshow, but in this case all the text and objects are all contained within a single article.

Editing the Scrolling Text Object:

When created, a scrolling text object will not have any objects inside it. Inserting it onto your page or Masterpage will not show any information until an Article has been selected.

In the Miscellaneous Manager, select the radio button next to the object's ID number and click 'Edit' in the Manager Option's menu.

The Scrolling Text options will load (right).

Select the 'Pick' button to choose an article from the Article Manager.

Enter a height and width (measured in pixels). If left blank, these dimensions will be governed by the selected article.

scrolling article options

  • The direction dropdown allows you to set which direction the article will scroll. This may be Up or Down.
  • Scrolling Speed may be Slow, Medium or Fast.

Select 'Save'. Any changes made should be apparent next time the Scrolling Text object is viewed.
