Object PermissionsShort DescriptionObject permissions allow direct control over which individual users, or groups, can view and/or modify specific objects within your Aplinx system. Every article, image, attachment etc. (virtually all content) in the Netagi Aplinx system contains a set of permissions. The default is to allow the world (essentially everyone) to view content and only the owner of the object the ability to edit it. These permissions are set when an object is created. No other permissions are assigned, however, if you wish to prevent people who aren't logged in from viewing a page, or an article on a page even, then you can assign and revoke permission. Although permissions can be edited directly using the Object Permissions manager, normally it's easiest to go to the relevant object manager first - if for no other reason than to make a note of the object's ID number to assist in locating it in the Object Manager. Accessing Manager Permissions ManagerTo use this Manager you must be logged in with the administrator toolbar visible across the top of your screen. If more than ten objects exist in this manager, arrows and a drop down list will appear giving you the ability to move through these pages. Editing Object PermissionsEditing the default settings is as simple as ticking or unticking the View or Modify checkboxes on the right hand side of the Object Permissions Manager. The default settings will be assigned to all objects for the main Users/Groups - being 'World' and 'Administrators'. Please Note: World users may not be given permission to Modify any objects. Where the Group 'World' has been selected, only ticking or unticking checkboxes in the 'View' column will affect object's permissions. When all object permission changes have been made, select the 'Save Changes' button from the top of the Object Permissions Manager. Adding New Object PermissionsIf you wish to assign permissions for additional User/s or Group/s onto an existing object please follow the steps outlined below. Object permissions may also be edited by following this guide.
A new window will load showing the Permissions Selector. The Object's Id number and details of its creator will be shown at the top of this window. In the center of this screen are details of any existing Users who have been assigned permissions to the object. In the example to the right, no individual Users have permissions for this object. The third section of the Permissions Selector shows details of Groups with permissions assigned to the object. In this example, the Group 'World' has permission to view but not to modify this object.
The appropriate User or Group list will appear to you.
The Permissions Selector will reload showing the addition of the user or group.
The window will close and any changes should be reflected in the Object Permissions Manager. If a user or group has been added, but no checkboxes ticked, they will still be shown in the Manager. Deleting Object PermissionsIf a user or group has been assigned permissions that are no longer required, these permissions may be removed from the Object Permissions Manager by selecting the radio button next to the appropriate permission's ID number and clicking the 'Delete' button at the top of the Manager. | ||||||||||||||
