Manager PermissionsShort Description Manager permissions allow direct control over which individual users, or groups, can view and/or modify Aplinx Managers and any objects contained within them. By default no permissions are assigned, which represents the 'default' status for all users. The moment a user or group has a manager permission defined they lose all default permissions and utilise only the assigned values. See also: How toA quick example appears at the bottom of this page. Accessing Manager Permissions Manager
To use this Manager you must be logged in with the administrator toolbar visible across the top of your screen. Select the The Manager Permissions Manager will look similar to the one below. If this is the first time you have accessed this manager, no permissions will be linked to your system. The Manager Options menu appears on the left side of the screen. Setting Manager PermissionsSelecting the Set Permissions button, from the Manager Options Menu, allows you to modify Manager permissions for the users and groups in your system. This screen lists all the managers you have access to and allows you to choose a relevant or user group. To select a group or user:
Please note: In some browsers the 'Select' button will do nothing. If nothing happens when it is clicked, please manually close the Group or User Manager window. Remember to keep a note of the ID number (recorded in the step above).
Each of the Managers on this screen will have two check boxes - one in each of the columns 'View' and 'Modify'. Ticking the check box in the 'View' column allows the User or Group, who you are assigning permissions for, to view that manager when they are logged in to the Aplinx system. Access to modify items in that manager will also be granted once the 'Modify' check box has also been ticked.
The Manager Permissions Manager will reload, showing the name/description of the User or Group you have set permissions for. Selecting 'Edit' next to that User/Group will load the Assign Permissions screen again. These settings may be viewed or altered. To remove all permissions from a group or user select 'Delete' in the Options column next to their name/description. If all Manager Permissions are removed in this manner, the default Manager Permissions will be restored - once again allowing full access to all Managers in the Aplinx system. Example:Lets say you have a group called Content Authors. Click the Choose Group button and choose the relevant group by clicking 'Select' or making a note of the group's ID number. In the Assign Permissions screen, enter the group's ID number into the text box (if a number is already in this text box ensure that it is for the correct group). Next, click the relevant checkbox to assign view and modify values for each of the managers that this group will be using. Since they 'author content' we assume they will need permissions on Articles and Images only. They will not need access to, for example, Style Manager as editing styles is the job of the designers. Content Authors will now only be able to see the Content menu in the Administrator toolbar when they log in. The Content menu will only be populated by Articles and Images. Click Save and your new permissions set will appear in the Manager. | ||||||||||||||
